Should There Be Limits to the Technological Race? - This Time, You Decide!

⚖️ Should There Be Limits to the Technological Race? - This Time, You Decide!

2026 Night of Ideas | Tribunal for Future Generations

The French Office in Taipei (BFT), in partnership with the Taipei School of Economics and Political Science (TSE) at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), brings the annual Night of Ideas to Hsinchu, Taiwan's high-tech hub!

As AI advances at an unprecedented pace and global technological competition intensifies, a fundamental question arises: Should there be limits to technological progress? And if so, who should set them?

Home to Taiwan's semiconductor and high-tech industries, Hsinchu provides a fitting setting for this year's discussion on AI and global technological competition.

Through a mock trial, experts from journalism, academia, technology, and public policy will take on the roles of judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, and witnesses, presenting different perspectives on the limits of technological progress and its implications for our future.
