Center for Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CTIE)
The rise of knowledge-based economy has challenged the conventional wisdoms of business management. Especially for those in Taiwan, firms must understand that the new business world values minds over machines and technology over mass production. Facing the new competitive landscape, firms must equip with new tools and theoretical models to be able to create value and prosper. Therefore, the Center for Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CTIE), a research institute established of College of Technology Management, is established to conduct research and provide education in the fields of innovation management and entrepreneurship. Its main mission includes: analysis of economic, managerial and societal aspects of technological innovation. Individual research projects will be grouped to create new synergies among related theoretical, empirical and policy research.
CTIE research is organised along four lines which represented a combination of different analytical and empirical approaches contributing to its overall research mission.
Theme I: Intellectual property rights
Theme II: Business models innovation
Theme III: Technology entrepreneurship and new venture creation
Theme IV: Business incubation and innovation systems
The objective of the Center is to develop into an independent scientific 'centre of excellence' where researchers and experts of diverse disciplines, interested in the environmental, industrial, and social impacts of technological changes, conduct theoretical, empirical and policy-relevant research. The Center focuses on developing an empirically based theory of the governance of technological innovation, science policy, and entrepreneurship. Specifically, the Center will become the leading research center and education program of technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and business incubation and serve as one of the world-class think tanks with academic reputation that makes significant contributions to the body of knowledge.
